Balenciaga Spring/Summer 2019

Balenciaga gave one of the finest runway shows this year. The whole concept consisted of future meeting present. I loved all of the elements they added in, from the touch of casual with denim to the fashion forward neon.

It is very rare you will find denim making its a runways debut so chicly, but if anyone could make it happen it is Balenciaga! On this very special runway for spring/summer 2019, Balenciaga created a whole entire world to surround this collection. The lights reflecting off of every wall, and the audience getting an up close look at the designs walking down the runway were all put together to create a sort of modern/retro 80’s feeling.

This collection gave us a slew of structured shoulder designs to admire, and tones of a sophisticated futuristic lady. My favorite part is the mix between suit styles and relaxed streetwear. The addition of denim to this runway gives the whole collection a relatable feeling. If this is what the future looks like then denim really is a closet essential!

Beyond even that, Balenciaga also played with the accessories on this runway. Some models sported classic heels, and other rocked knee high boots! Sunglasses were rarely worn, and different handbags were arranged for each look. The balance of neutral colors like black worked beautifully with the neon and really made the poppy colors stand out!

Overall, this feels like a very Matrix like runway! The collection would fit into a futuristic society that is nothing like what we know today. More than anything, I love how color was used on this runway and it makes me so excited for Balenciaga’s future.

Much Love,

Sarah
