What to Wear to a Spring Graduation
With my brother’s college graduation rapidly approaching, I have been trying answer the biggest question about the whole occasion — what am I going to wear? Now, I know this may seem a little selfish, but hear me out! What you wear to graduations will live on in family photos forever, and that is precisely why it is such an important question.
Luckily, after a lot of research and soul searching I have come up with some different outfit ideas that is flattering and regret free! If you are struggling with the “What do I wear to graduation?” question too, you have come to the right place! Today I am going to share a few different graduation style inspiration ideas!
There are a couple of things to consider before choosing what you will be wearing. First, is the graduation outside? My brother will be having two graduations ceremonies to attend, one indoors (just his college) and one outdoors (the entire university ceremony).
Second, what are your responsibilities that day? Are you driving people? Are you setting up party decorations? Or are you the graduating? All of these factors are important when considering your outfit for the day because if you are driving or lifting heavy objects, it probably isn’t the best idea to wear a long skirt.
A Classic Dress
A classic white dress is always popular for graduation, particularly if you are the graduate! I am more inclined to suggest wearing a knee length dress like this one if you are driving or setting up a graduation party. Plus, if the weather turns chilly all of a sudden (which I am all too familiar with happening here in the Midwest) you can just throw on a cute denim jacket! If you are looking for a more classic style dress, I found a couple of cute styles here and here.
Of course, if you are looking for a pop of color you really can’t go wrong with a peachy pink dress! This Roni Nicole dress was featured here on Faintly Familiar last summer, but when thinking of outfit ideas for graduation it hit me that his dress would be super cute for the occasion! If you are looking for this exact dress you can find it here and here are the exact wedges I am wearing. I also found a few alternatives dress ideas that have bit of pink in them too seen here and here.
You already know I am a sucker for off the shoulder tops and dresses. If you are interested in a more elegant look for the big day, wear something off the shoulder! I love the fun ruffle on this dress, but since it is spring maybe something floral would be more fitting. Here and here are a couple of off the shoulder dresses I found and love!
A Floral Romper
This floral romper is probably my favorite romper in my entire wardrobe (and yes, you will be seeing more of it this summer)! Rompers are perfect for graduation because they allow you to easily maneuver around the busy occasion while still looking cute. I particularly love the contrast between the black and light pink flowers on this romper. Here is a alternative idea when it comes to rompers for graduation that I really like.
A Jumpsuit
This pinstripe jumpsuit is possibly my favorite summer/spring look of all-time. Jumpsuits are such a simple idea that seems to always be forgotten when considering graduation outfit ideas, but I think they are a great alternative to the traditional dress. Also, jumpsuits often times have pockets when dresses don’t so that is a huge perk if you are not interested in carrying around a bag on graduation day. I found two really super cute jumpsuits that would be perfect for the occasion here and here.
I hope this gave you some style inspiration for graduation! My outfit is all already planned out and ready to go. I will be sharing both outfits I wear (the one for indoors and outside) here next week so keep an eye out for that post soon! Until then, congrats to all of the grads and happy shopping!
Much Love,
Sarah
