Movie Monday: Here Comes Mr. Jordan (1941)

I have been SO anxious to review the original Here Comes Mr. Jordan and today is FINALLY that day!! If you can’t tell, this is one of my favorite classic films and one of my movies of all time. Before giving too much away, let’s review this classic!

If Robert Montgomery starred in it, odds are I am going to love the film. That, for some reason, always holds true with his films and Here Comes Mr. Jordan is no exception.

This film is so clever and imaginative, I just can’t express that emotion enough through my words. Here Comes Mr. Jordan is a MUST SEE film! Now, I am talking about the original that was released in 1941 with Montgomery, not the remakes that were later released. I haven’t dared to watch any of the remakes because I am too fearful that it would somehow ruin the original for me and, therefore, the overall storyline.

Another rather important reason the original 1941 version of Here Comes Mr. Jordan is so important to see is because of the immense talent that Claude Rains uses to create his character. Let’s face it, if Rains is in a film I am definitely going to like it, too. Exhibit A of Rains amazing talent, Casablanca.

There is something so subtle and sweet to the plot of Here Comes Mr. Jordan. The same magic that is held within the character’s lines in this film reminds me of the magic that the James Stewart classic Harvey (1950) also has. Both of the leading men in these films perfectly capture the emotions that anyone would evoke in the rather odd situations that are presented in these movies.

I cannot stress how important it is to watch the Here Comes Mr. Jordan 1941 version! If you are a classic films fan or simply a fan of good movies, I promise that this film will not disappoint!

Much Love,

Sarah
