Benefit BADgal BANG Mascara Review

Full disclosure here, this review is not sponsored in any way at all. This is just me being more excited about trying a new mascara than any normal person should be, and I really wanted to share my thoughts on the product.

I am not going to pretend that I am a makeup guru and Faintly Familiar has never been much of a place for discussing makeup, but I do like to play around with different brands and items within the beauty industry. Now, I am not very skilled at makeup in general, but I always find myself drawn to mascaras and their many promises for longer and more full lashes. My natural eyelashes are relatively petite and not overly voluptuous so I am in constant pursuit of a heavenly mascara.

This pursuit led me to the nearest Ulta store last week. I had a few items that I traditionally use when it comes to makeup to restock so I took this opportunity to browse the different mascaras that are available. For a while now I have been using a favorite of many makeup experts from the brand Too Faced. I loved how this particular mascara made my lashes look more full, but I was never able to achieve the length that I wanted.

So while at Ulta I asked one of the ladies who worked there her opinion on all of the mascaras and which one would achieve the volume I am looking for. I was pointed in the direction of the Benefit Cosmetics stand and this BADgal BANG mascara. It was the same price as the one I had been purchasing so I figured I would give it a try and take a leap into the unknown.

In later research I did on the BADgal BANG mascara I found out that this is not an overly new product to the market. Benefit Cosmetics introduced this mascara back at the beginning of 2018. I may be a little slow to this review party, but I am okay with that because reviewing makeup is not a large part of this community. And if I haven’t heard of this particular mascara, chances are some of you haven’t either. So I wanted to share my thoughts in this pursuit of longer lashes.

My initial impression of this mascara after my use was slight confusion. I had been using my old mascara for such a long time that I was used to the more feathered look of my eyelashes, however, the BADgal BANG mascara seems to clump together a bit more. Of course, the formula is thicker and it takes a little longer to dry so the clumping may just be from that.

One element that I really wanted and definitely got from this mascara was longer lashes! I feel like the clumpy aspect of the formula was added on purpose to give lashes a more defined look, one you normally only get with false eyelashes. The length with this formula is amazing, though! I was so shocked with how I was able to get wider, more brightened eyes just from a mascara switch.

I am not trying to throw shade on my old mascara. Matter of fact, I kind of wish I could use the brush from my old mascara for the BADgal BANG mascara. But I will say that the formula with this Benefit Cosmetics products certainly maintained a fresh look all day!

On the first day of trying this new product I went to work (as a tour guide for perspective students on my university campus) where I had back-to-back tours in ninety degree weather. Later on when I got a look in the mirror, I didn’t see any smudges or flakes. The lashes still look as long as they did when I initially applied the mascara, too!

I think if you are looking for a buildable, lengthening, and long lasting mascara, I would recommend giving this Benefit Cosmetics BADgal BANG a try. If you are willing to spend a little more for a good mascara, this product will deliver. Also, false eyelashes will no longer be a necessary item for a lot of those special occasions.

So there are my thoughts on this new and exciting adventure into makeup!
