What I'm Wearing

The Endless Versatility of Riding Boots

If you have been reading Faintly Familiar for any amount of time, you may have noticed that in the winter and fall months my shoe choices become a little bit more limited. A major reason for that is related to the weather, cold and snow can get pretty brutal in the Midwest. Despite this, there is one shoe that never fails me in the moments I need it — riding boots.

In my humble opinion, riding boots that somehow end up working for all kinds of different styles. Going for a country chic look? Riding boots will fit that. Heading to a college football game? Riding boots will fit that. Aiming for a more timeless look? Riding boots will fit that. It seems no matter what you style goal is that day, riding boots will work with everything.

The only time you might want to consider searching for a different pair of shoes is when it is super snowy outside. I never where my riding boots in the pouring rain or in snow. Riding boots are not for those indecent weather conditions, I would go for ducks boots on those days. However, on a dry, sunny or cloudy day riding boots are absolutely perfect.

Another reason I love riding boots this time of year so much (outside of weather prohibited days) is due to how much of the leg that riding boots cover. It keeps me just a little extra warm on those colder days, and they are even warmer with thermal socks!

There are a variety of styles you can wear riding boots with, but you should also consider the style of riding boots that you own. Mine are a classic neutral brown color, but there are different fashions and colors for whatever you would prefer. Lets not forget how some super cute riding boots also have heels for the days you would like a little extra boost!

So, I just have one question for you now. Is there anything that riding boots can’t do?

Much Love,
Sarah
