Kate Spade Spring/Summer 2019

Despite all of the fun and fashion, New York Fashion Week was also a emotional milestone. This was the first fashion show after the loss of company founder Kate Spade. There were many impactful tributes dedicated to her, from the all pink runway to the programs with the iconic quote “She left a little sparkle wherever she went”. This collection will be a memorable one for the brand for many reasons, only one being how amazing all of these pieces are.

This whole runway show seemed to be 60’s inspired and I loved every bit of it! From the fun prints to the all pink outfits, this is definitely a retro win! The prominence of the iconic Kate Spade bag and logo was an especially sweet dedication to founder Kate Spade.

From the looks of it, the princess sleeves trend will continue into at least next spring which is super exciting! Recently I wrote a blog post all about this up and coming trend for fall, but now I see it is going to easily continue into the new year. Ruffles will be more downplayed and puffer sleeves are going to start coming around for a possible win in the spring/summer 2019 collections. We shall see on that front…

Another little trend the I noticed on a majority of runways this New York Fashion Week is that in 2019 we will see a larger amount of the classic trench coat. However, this closet essential will have a little tweak in design. The one pictured above is special because not only is the color different than the typical camel shade, but it has a sophisticated print on the collar giving it a chic spy vibe.

This Kate Spade collection was styled perfectly! The neck scarves and rounded sunglasses added just the right feeling to these designer pieces without taking it too far! It would have been super easy to make the sunglasses go over the top, but they were just the right size to not overpower each outfit yet make their presence known.

I had very mixed emotions when this collection came out. Not because of the clothes, I love of all of these designs, but because of the painful loss of Kate Spade. This is a loss that the world will feel forever. Thankfully, Kate Spade  shared her talents with us while she was here, and she has left behind a wonderful legacy!

Much Love,

Sarah
