Burberry Spring/Summer 2019 for Women

When Burberry name Riccardo Tisci the Chief Creative Officer of the brand back in March of this year, everyone wondered in which direction he would take the Burberry brand. The excitement surrounding his introductory collection for the brand gave London Fashion week a Monday boost.

Burberry is widely known as a fashion brand built into the British DNA. Evidence of the cultural staple that Burberry is in England shows up in the classic trench coat. Like at New York Fashion Week, London Fashion Week is proving to us that the trench coat is going to be the “it” product for spring and summer 2019. But this isn’t any kind of ordinary trench coat you may already have, this trench coat has details and special features only high fashion designers would be able to pull off so beautifully.

In addition, this runway show didn’t ever stray from the neutral tones that dominated the collection. It stayed true to the earthy, classic shades that Burberry’s brand was built on. Add a few details here, omit a few buttons there, and re-arrange the structure of the garments you would normally consider a classic and there you have the collection Burberry showed today.

This was not my favorite runway of either New York Fashion Week or London Fashion Week. I respect the simplicity of this collection and the easy going direction Riccardo Tisci is taking the brand, but I wish we would have been wowed a little more.

Much Love,

Sarah
