University of Illinois Alumni Luncheon 2018

Last week I had the privilege to mix and mingle with some of the amazing alumni from the University of Illinois. As a Sophomore, it was a honor for me to be nominated and invited to the 2018 University of Illinois Homecoming Comeback Lunch as a representative of the College of Media! I was so shocked to learn that I was even nominated and excited to have accepted the invitation to the luncheon. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, and I could not be more grateful.

Me with former NASA astronaut and University of Illinois alumni Scott Altman.

Almost all of the College of Media representatives are pictured in this photo with media alumni Nick Ciffone (pictured in the center).

Some of the alumni that made a return this year were Scott Altman (former NASA astronaut and University of Illinois engineering alumni), and Nick Ciffone (a creative director in the advertising industry and former College of Media student). It was wonderful to be able to meet with and speak to these alumni. The alumni showed enthusiasm to be back on the campus they love so dearly.

We were provided lunch (with my favorite dessert—cheesecake), and there was a Q & A with the Alumni. They shared some of their favorite memories from their time here on campus, one including a friend driving their car a couple of laps around the Quad, and gave the room of current students career advice.

Being nominated alone was an honor, but to make it past the nomination phase and to be further invited makes me feel so thankful. This university has so much school pride and so many wonderful people. Graduates have went out into the world and made an impact in every kind of career field. I feel so blessed to be a student here, and I cannot wait to also call myself an alumni of the University of Illinois.

Much Love,

Sarah
