A Few of My Favorite Things Winter 2018/19

Now that the winter season has officially begun, I want to continue my “A Few of My Favorite Things” series where I share with you a few of the products and brands that I have discovered or just love to use! This is one of my favorite series to write for on my blog because after these post go up on Faintly Familiar I always get a great response from my readers who want to share the products they love as well!

Duck Boots

I can’t tell you enough how much I love my Tommy Hilfiger duck boots! Although these boots probably wouldn’t be ideal to wear if there was a couple of feet of snow on the ground, I have worn these boots in snow all the way from a small dusting to about nine inches or so. They work great to keep your feet warm and dry, especially when you wear thermal socks!

Duck boots are also ideal for rainy days, in my opinion. As a college student who walks miles and miles a day all across campus, I found that rain boots are a little too loose fitting for me and often end up rubbing my ankle and making it itchy. The more fitted style of these duck boots don’t do the same thing and that makes my mega walking on campus so much easier!

If you are in the market for a good pair of duck boots, I have found a couple of options for you that are both still designed by Tommy Hilfiger! The first option can be found here and they look most similar to mine, and the other option is here. Honestly, if you don’t have a pair of these kinds of boots already go grab one! You won’t regret it!

Thermal Socks

Living in the Midwest, we see the weather do some pretty crazy stuff. The running joke is that you may be able to witness all four seasons in one day, that is just how crazy it gets! So it is so wonder that the winter season is no exception.

Through wintertime trial and error I have learned that thermal socks can be a real lifesaver! Even if it is just extremely cold outside, you are going to want to invest in thermal socks! I love my socks so much sometimes I use them simply as something I can wear around the house when my feet are cold. So if you haven’t gotten a pair of thermal socks yet, I highly recommend them!

Sherpa Pullover

Another lifesaving item in the wintertime is hands down sherpa! A sherpa pullover is just the item your closet needs when the weather reaches those subzero temperatures! Nothing keeps me as warm as this pullover, and the fact that it has pockets makes me over the moon!

This sherpa pullover has been my go-to this season, and looks so cute with leggings and boots. There are a plethora of options online to find a sherpa pullover, but for you convenience I have three great options here, here, and here!

The Puffer Jacket

I know I have talked about puffer jackets before, but you seriously will not find me wearing any other style of jacket in the freezing cold. Last winter I purchased the black Guess puffer jacket that I am wearing above and absolutely loved it (still do!)! This year I bought this plum colored Steve Madden Puffer jacket and fell in love with it for the hand covers that are attached to the sleeves and the nice hood that it has.

Like the sherpa pullovers, there are a ton of options out there for puffer jackets (and hopefully you are already staying warm with one!) so you would be able to easily find any kind that you would like. Also, a little side note is that puffer jackets are so on trend right now too so if you don’t have one yet go grab one!

The Blanket Scarf

Last but not least, I want to shine a little light on my go-to and new favorite wintertime accessory — the blanket scarf! I touched a little bit on it when I discussed what I would be wearing for Christmas 2018, however, here I will go into a little more detail.

Although the blanket scarf isn’t exactly a new item, it was new to me this winter! This beautiful green and red scarf keeps me warm, is easy to mix and match with even after the holidays, and there are so many great ways to wear it! So I traded in wearing the many infinity scarves that I have for this cute blanket scarf and I haven’t looked back since.

If you yourself have not yet discovered the splendor of wearing a blanket scarf in the winter, I have found one that looks exactly like mine for a ridiculously good price! That scarf can be found here.

Well, that is it for this season’s “A Few of My Favorite Things”! I hope you all enjoyed it and this post either gave you some ideas on how to stay warm or it has inspired you to try something new! If you have any brands/products you would like to recommend to me to try, leave a comment! I would love to hear from you!

Much Love,

Sarah
