4th of July 2018
It was one jam-packed fourth of July for my family and I this year! This was the third year in a row that I have walked in the fourth of July parade in Oakwood, Illinois. This year was extra special because it was the first time my Mom and I have had the opportunity to walk alongside our fellow Governor Bradford NSDAR members!
Some of the Governor Bradford Chapter NSDAR members getting ready for the parade!
We handed out little United States flags to the kids along the parade route. The children would get a little glimmer of excitement in their eye when they saw us coming along to hand out flags. They were so excited to get a flag and start waving it all around!
There are so many people who love the Oakwood fourth of July parade (including my family and I) that we ran out of flags to hand out! It was such a great opportunity to promote patriotism and to see so many friendly faces.
Viki Powell rocking one of the cutest patriotic outfits I saw all day! Just look at that hat!
After the long hot walk through the parade, my family and I headed back home to cool off. Fast forward a few hours and it was time for the show I wait for all year: the fireworks!
The fireworks were spectacular! We go to the show held in Oakwood, Illinois every year, and this year the fireworks had a huge ending! The lights make the sky light up so bright it was like daytime!
Every year it seems like they exceed the previous year’s show! Great job Oakwood! I can’t wait for next year!
Happy Independence Day!
Much Love,
Sarah
