Erdem Spring/Summer 2019
London Fashion Week is officially in full swing! One of my favorite runways every year is the Erdem fashion show. This show always brings together all of my favorite aspects of fashion: modernity, nostalgia, and simplicity. Let’s have a closer look at this year’s collection shall we…

From the moment I saw the first pieces of this collection, they not only caught my eye but also my imagination. The sun hats, structured shoulders, and un-obnoxious floral prints all playfully work together to create a memorable collection. The use of accessories, as we saw at New York Fashion Week, once again reign supreme on the London runways. Even down to the measure of where a bow or button will go is important to designers this year, and I admire their diligent attention to detail.
As I learned more about the Erdem collection, I realized my initial 1800’s inclination was not wrong. The story goes that Erdem Moralioglu and his partner, Philip Joseph, purchased a home together and this home was once owned by two sisters in the 1860’s. Thinking about these sisters is what inspired Erdem to create such a magnificent spring and summer collection.

If you have been reading Faintly Familiar for a while now, you know how much I generally dislike loud floral prints. But this collection puts this print in just the right light for me. I love the the delicate and distinct florals in this collection, and how the shades used dance with the prints.
It is collections like these that remind me of why I love fashion. These pieces truly possess everything that I believe Faintly Familiar should mean. It feels like something you have seen or experienced before, but at the same time refreshingly new. Congratulations to Erdem on creating a line of fashion that is so much more than a passing fad. Instead, these designs will leave a timeless and everlasting impression on the fashion industry.
Much Love,
Sarah
