Chanel Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear|Farewell to Karl Lagerfeld

These photos are not mine. They can be found here.

With the passing of the legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel faces a whole new frontier. Lagerfeld gave us many designs to enjoy throughout his career, however, I can’t help but feel like this runway in particular will serve as a kind of endless winter inspiration for some time to come.

The runway sets have always been spectacular, and Lagerfeld never disappointed those who were in attendance. But this runway perfectly sums up modern ski lodge attire. We are used to thinking of ski lodge ensembles in a retro light, but this collection really summed up a new approach.

I really like how these dresses and all of the outfits were paired with snow boots. It is so unrealistic to have the models wearing heels with these winter designs especially in the artificial snow. That is why I am thrilled that Lagerfeld apparently felt the need to be a little more practical with his runway. Plus, it is nice to finally see the fashion industry take into consideration that snow boots can be fashionable too!

Overall it was a wonderful final collection from the one and only Karl Lagerfeld. The mix of heavy and lightweight material used in this winter inspired runway are the perfect example as to why Lagerfeld was a genius. He never held himself to one fashion rule or another, and the fit of each garment was, of course, spectacular.

So, thank you, Karl Lagerfeld. You have left this world with an impact that is unmatched and you gave the fashion industry a ton to stay inspired by. You will forever be cherished and never forgotten.

Much Love,

Sarah
