I must admit, I was rather disappointed by the runways we saw for this spring 2020 men’s fashion week. After combing through all of the designer shows and seeing how they all look basically the same, there were only two specific runways that stood out to me enough to actually review. Celine is one of those two fashion shows that I have decided to write a Runway Review about!

What stood out to me in this spring collection was the perfect mix of business and casual wear. If you look at the entire spring 2020 line up of men’s fashion, you will notice that pretty much every designer featured a suit or blazer of some kind. While I enjoy seeing suits and more professional style clothing, having this style on every runway can get pretty boring. But what made Celine’s version of this different was that they decided to take casual Friday and make it a more central focus of the entire runway!

Another element I really liked about how this collection was shown is how the models were styled. The slight retro vibe that this runway gave me was not the typical kind that is used. One of most important way that Celine kept the retro feel from getting cheesy was because they relied on the styling of the models to achieve this vibe and not the entire collection on show.

Thanks to this mix of retro, denim, and sophistication, the Celine collection was a real standout for the spring 2020 men’s runways. Unfortunately, most of the other collections on display were all typical for spring — pastels dominated. However, for some designers, like Celine, this worked to their benefit and really made me appreciate at least a little creativity.

Much Love,

Sarah
