Grandma and Grandpa’s 65th Anniversary Party

This July 4th was extra special for my Grandma and Grandpa McFarland this year! First, they were the Grand Marshals of the local 4th of July parade. Second, our family threw them a fun 65th wedding anniversary party! This is, of course, a very unique milestone to hit so we took this as an opportunity to celebrate!

My mom did all of the heavy lifting when it came to planning the party for my grandparents, but when she needed our help to put together the decorations the day of the party we all stepped up to help out! We got a big “6” and “5” number ballots for photos and decorations. When it came to a color scheme choice, my mom found out that the colors for a 65th wedding anniversary are blue and white so that is what we went with!

The plates were blue, the napkins were blue, and the table cloths were an mix of blue and white. Finally, we decorated the tables with some alternating blue and white streamers that were slightly twisted. Another element that we were sure to include was the a table of memories including photo albums and a guest book to sign.

My main job for the whole event was to be the official food distributor. That job title meant standing behind the food table waiting for people to come by with their empty plate and serve them the delicious food we made that morning. Another job of mine for the day was official table decorator. However, this time I had my Grandma Sigmon to help me out.

The friends and family who showed up to celebrate the milestone that Grandma and Grandpa McFarland reached were all so thrilled to see them! It was great to have this miniature reunion with so many people that we do not have the opportunity to see on a regular basis. Although not everyone we invited had the chance to attend the party because the 4th of July is the time a lot of people take to go on vacation somewhere, there was still such a great turnout for Grandma and Grandpa!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who made it to this celebration for Grandma and Grandpa McFarland and to thank those who sent them a anniversary card. It means the world to them that they are in your thoughts and hearts!

I would also like to say a happy 65th anniversary to my grandparents again. This is a milestone none of us will ever forget!

Much Love,

Sarah
