Farewell to Summer 2019

Last summer I wrote a blog post saying goodbye to the summer season I had, and this year I want to continue that tradition. Summer 2019 was seasons filled with joy and growth for me personally. A lot happened and changed for my family, and this summer marked a large shift in all of our lives.

My amazing parents went with me to a Foreigner concert that was pretty epic! Love them!
Carnival rides are a little less scary when you have your big brother beside you. Thanks for being my ride or die, Jacob!

One of the reasons this summer was so special was because of the job I had. I spent my summer at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign campus (where I am a student about to go into my junior year) as a tour guide for incoming freshmen and perspective students. This job allowed me to meet, greet, and appreciate a ton of people on a daily basis.

This is just a small sample of the awesome crew I worked with over the summer. The thumbnail photo has more of my coworkers pictured, but not all of them. Thanks for an amazing summer I-STAR fam!!

This summer job also gave me 50+ coworkers to spend the summer alongside! I have immensely enjoyed getting to know each and every one of them and they all have a special place in my heart. Although I will be continuing this tour guide job into the fall semester, when classes begin it won’t be quite the same as the summer because I will be so focused on grades and projects.

Summer 2019 also marked getting over a huge fear of mine as well: getting my wisdom teeth removed. If you haven’t read the series I created about this intense experience, you can read all three installments here, here, and here.

A large portion of this summer was spent helping my awesome older brother Jacob move to Chicago. This was a huge shift for my family because he has officially flown out of the nest and into his first post-college job. It also is a large city that no doubt has endless opportunities for him so the feeling is overall bitter sweet.

The sisterhood is strong for the Georgetown Fair Queen Forever Queens! We are lucky to have crowned another amazing girl and added her to the Fair Family!
Nothing says summertime like the local fair!

Last but not least, fair season. Like I said in last year’s goodbye to summer blog post, the end of fair seasons marks the end of summer to me. This year’s fair season made me realize how fast time has flown. The Georgetown Fair Queen Pageant this year marked the third year since I was crown as a fair queen. Although this makes me feel a little old (lets be honest, time goes way too fast), I feel incredibly grateful to be a member of the Fair Family. Knowing that I can return to the Georgetown Fair each year and see all of the same friendly faces that I have grown to love is very comforting.

All of the elements that made up this summer were extremely special and unique. I feel like I have grown is confidence and several abilities throughout this season. All of the lessons I have learned over these past three months or so I know will carry over into other areas of my life and help me out in all of the best ways. I am so thankful for all of the amazing people that have made summer 2019 so special!

My favorite people in the whole world! My family is so amazing! I love all of them so much!

Life can be hard, especially when big changes take place. But what really counts at the end of the day are the people you surround yourself with. They are what makes life so special.

No matter where you are, what you are doing, or even what is going on, the people who are around you are what makes all of the difference.

Much Love,

Sarah
