The Rome Trip: Day 2
Day 2 of our trip to Rome, Italy, was probably the busiest and the fullest. We saw some of the go-to places you think of when you think of Rome and we did even more walking than the day before. But to balance that out we also ate more. Life is all about balance! 🙂 The Rome Trip: Day 2 Roaming Rome On our way to see the Pantheon, we passed by some really cool stuff. We would go back later in the day to actually see all of the things we passed by, but I just had to get a photo with this Julius Caesar statue! I’m not going…

The Rome Trip: Day 1
A lot of people start out a new year with a list of things they would like to accomplish with the new slate they have just been given. New year, new me is what we commonly hear, right? On that list may be to learn a new language, lose some weight, eat healthier, or even to travel more. Well, I certainly took the traveling more part of a potential New Year’s resolution seriously! On January 2, 2020, I left for for Rome, Italy! Don’t worry, this trip was not taken on a whim. My brother Jacob and I have been planning this trip to Rome for a while now, but…

Movie Monday: Roman Holiday (1953)
It feels only appropriate that this week’s Movie Monday be a review of the Audrey Hepburn and Gregory Peck classic Roman Holiday. Since this week will be full of photos from my trip to Rome, I thought it was the right time to review this movie! Before I left for Rome I was scrolling through the different television channels and ran into Roman Holiday on one of the channels! I couldn’t resist watching it, and now that I have returned from Rome it is time to review this film. The magic element to Roman Holiday truly is the story. We start out seeing a beautiful princess traveling countries and charming…

What I Wore in Rome Italy
The whirlwind trip to Rome, Italy, has come and gone. There were so many amazing aspects to this particular trip that made it very unique, but I will cover all of that in the day-by-day detailed blog posts I will publish very soon! Today I want to focus on the outfits that I wore and the clothing items I put a lot of faith in to keep all of my travel photos timeless. Since the trip I took to Rome was in January, I had to really balance the whole “It’s winter!” aspect of the weather along with the “I don’t want these travel photos to be THAT dated looking.”…

Movie Monday: The Hunchback of Notre Dame (1939)
It’s time to take a moment and appreciate the classics, and I am not just talking about film! The Hunchback of Notre Dame is one of those stories that you feel like you know even if you have never read the novel of seen one the many films based on this story. Before watching the 1939 version of The Hunchback of Notre Dame starring Maureen O’Hara and Charles Laughton, I had never really known anything about the story besides it was a Disney movie. After the tragically watching the Notre Dame Cathedral burn in 2019, I figured 2020 would be a great time to review today’s classic film. This week’s…

Long Flight Essentials
A new year, a new adventure! The day that this blog post is published, I will be busy roaming the streets of Rome, Italy! Since my first trip abroad in late 2018, I have learned just what someone might need to be comfortable on a long flight. For that reason, I thought today would be a good opportunity to share some of the items people I know have told me they use for long flights and the items I use! Carry on Bags This may seem obvious, but back when I took my first ever long flight (to lovely London, England in 2018) I did not know that an carry…

Movie Monday: You Can’t Take It with You (1938)
Today’s Movie Monday is another classic starring James Stewart with one of his best co-stars Jean Arthur. Another similarity to last week’s film is You Can’t Take It with You was directed by the talented Frank Capra! This film is the perfect movie to watch if you are wanting to start the New Year out on a the right note! Despite there being a lot of chaos going on in each scene, You Can’t Take It with You one film that has a lot of heart. Like so many other Frank Capra movies, the overall storyline focuses on the greater good of the community. With strong leading characters like Lionel…

Hopes & Resolutions for 2020
If there is anything that 2019 taught me, it was that best laid plans often times never come to fruition. I learned this in many ways this year and that important lesson has helped me grow as a person. In the end, what is meant to be for you will come to you. Sometimes it is the things we don’t know about and are meant for us that end up being much better than what we originally wanted. This year also taught me that I am, in fact, getting older. I may not feel like I am any different than the eighteen year old girl that began college just a…

Movie Monday: It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)
To end this year’s countdown of holiday films, I want to end on a undeniable classic. It’s a Wonderful Life was directed by one of my absolute favorite directors, Frank Capra. Like so many of his films, James Stewart acts as the leading man in this movie alongside Donna Reed. There are only a handful of films that remain as necessary to see at least once a year. It’s a Wonderful Life is one of those films that, no matter what holiday you celebrate, should be on your list of must see films. Why is this movie so important to see? Because it has a message and meaning that goes…

What I’m Wearing for Christmas Eve 2019
There are several ways to honor the holiday season using fashion, but often times the choices are very limited. I mean, how many ways can you wear red and green? Well, I have a fun new take on a Christmas Eve outfit that works for the holidays, but it can also be just as cute outside of this specific time of year. I decided to wear a red sweater this year to really embrace one of the main colors of this season. To add some contrast I paired the bright red with my timeless black Guess puffer jacket. This jacket is one of my warmest and I have been using…
