My Summertime Skincare Routine

I have had many requests for a hair tutorial blog post and a skincare routine. So today I am accomplishing one of those two tasks by sharing my summertime skincare routine! The blog post about my hair and how I do it is coming soon so stay tuned for that.

As you may already know, taking care of your skin changes vastly depending on the season. For instance, in the winter season I like to use more products to product my skin from getting dry. If the Faintly Familiar Family would like to see what my winter skincare routine is I will do another post about that, but today I am going to share what I use in the summer.

Step one for me is waking up with a fresh face. No, I don’t loosely splash my face with water like in the commercials. Instead, I use astringent and cotton rounds! If you don’t already wash your face in the morning, I highly suggest you begin doing it. Not only is this good for you skin after a long night of sleeping, but it is also a great way to wake up just a little faster.

My skincare routine then jumps to the evening because after a long day of wearing makeup it is really nice to have a clean face again. Therefore, the most crucial part of this whole routine is that I remove all makeup before going to bed at night! It is so important for your skin to breath and not have a bunch of chemicals on your skin all evening long.

For easy makeup removal, I highly recommend getting makeup removal wipes. When I was younger I used to take my makeup off with just soap, water, and a washcloth. Let me tell you this, the makeup removal wipes are so much softer and more gentle on the skin, especially around the eyes!

There are a ton of different options when it comes to finding the right makeup removal wipes for your skin type, but the kind I use the most are from Neutrogena! Also, for those with sensitive skin, there are a lot of great options on the market that work as well.

Last but not least, in the summertime (and every other season for that matter) I always use the Clean & Clear “deep action” cream to wash my face after using a makeup removal wipe. The main reason I do this after using the makeup wipes is because I want to catch whatever makeup wasn’t caught with the wipes, and I feel like it really does a great job cleaning pores.

Overall, that is pretty much the entire routine I follow in the summertime, but I do have a few additional tips I like to use to keep my skin clear.

  1. Keep hair out of your face — this is especially useful in the summertime and it really does make a hug difference in your skin!
  2. Wear sunblock — this may seem obvious but a lot of times people just forget to do this or think it doesn’t matter. Trust me, it does.
  3. Don’t touch your face! — the tips of your fingers have oils on them that can mess with your skin. There is no need to cause yourself more problems than necessary just because you touched your face.
  4. Always remove all of your makeup — I cannot express this enough! Cleaning your makeup off does wonders for the skin!

I hope these tips helped and you discovered some fun new products to try this summer! These are all the exact products I use and I wrote this post to follow the exact order in which I operate. Of course, everyone is different so what works for me might not work for everyone, but since there were so many skincare routine requests I thought this would be fun to share.

Much Love,

Sarah
