How to Wear a Halloween Costume Without Wearing a Costume
Halloween is the holiday when you become whatever you wish you could be! However, I am skipping the whole costume routine this year. Instead I have another method to go about dressing up this year that doesn’t involve having to put on an actual costume. It is as simple as wearing a shirt and jeans! Keeping with the gingham trend that was so strong over the summer, I am wearing my best gingham felt long sleeved shirt. This Halloween “costume” is completely inspired by the one and only Dorothy of the Wizard of Oz! Pair this kind of classic film inspired top with a cute pair of jeans, and you…

Movie Monday: Frankenstein (1931)
Since Halloween is this Wednesday, I am going to end our month long scary themed classic films series with a classic: Frankenstein. This household name and story has been around for 200 years, and what better way to end the Halloween theme than to celebrate this milestone! These photos are not mine. This classic horror film set the tone for the whole genre when it premiered in Santa Barbara in 1931. The Frankenstein novel was written by Mary Shelley and, when made into a film, the set was created to be all that the readers of the novel had dreamed of and more. Even to this day you can see…

The Perfect Pumpkin Patch Ensemble
It is my favorite time of year! Fall is when Sarah lives her best life! I am sure that I am not alone when feeling that fall is easily one of the most beautiful seasons. What really makes me love this time of year is the weather! As the weather gets colder it calls for more layers, and more layers means more clothing! Woohoo!! In celebration of the impending Halloween holiday, I decided to go to a cute little pumpkin patch located in my hometown! I felt like Charlie Brown in the Great Pumpkin! It had been years since I went pumpkin picking so this was an extra special occasion,…

Hollywood Royalty
Hollywood is no stranger to turning some of its biggest stars into real life royalty. We all witnessed the fairytale wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But Markle was not the first actresses turned princess to come out of Hollywood! Today I am taking a look back at the royal relationships that has involved some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Rita Hayworth These photos are not mine. Arguably the trendsetter for this phenomenon, no one had ever seen a Hollywood actress date a foreign prince before Rita Hayworth did. Way back in 1948, Rita was traveling the world as a superstar after her many…

Fall Color Pallets for Men
The fall colors are here! With fall colors brings oranges, yellows, deep purples, and black for Halloween. In the midst of all of this excitement, what should guys wear to shift into fall gear while also staying true to their own style? Go for Earth tones! These sandy browns and grey hues are the perfect balancing out for all of the bright flurry of colors that come along with the autumn season. You can mix and match these Earth tones in any way you would like, and they are timeless! This is the kind of style you can wear year round, but it especially works for fall. This color pallet…

Movie Monday: I Married a Witch (1942)
Continuing on with the monthlong theme of classic films that are perfect for Halloween, today’s film is one that inspired a television show! I Married a Witch was the movie that cause Bewitched to come to life. The classic 60’s, Bewitched, was one of the reasons I decided to go into the advertising profession, I used to watch Darrin Stevens work on all of the ad campaigns and it excited me. What a chain of events! Technically, I suppose you could say that I Married a Witch gave me my career path! These photos are not mine. This film, starring Veronica Lake and Fredric March, had some onset secrets. Behind the scenes…

Leaves and Ruffled Sleeves
This olive green top is one of my favorites to wear during this particular time of year for many reasons. First, the ruffle sleeves are so much fun to pair with vests or just to wear on their own without a jacket. Second, the print on this top reminds me of the gorgeous falling leaves. Don’t ask me why, but fall is always the time of year when my style takes a little more of a country chic turn. You can tell by the way I choose to wear bootcut jeans a little more, and western inspired ankle boots. Actually, the boots I am wearing here have quickly become my…

A Few of My Favorite Things: Fall 2018
Now that it is officially fall, it’s time to introduce you to a few of my favorite things for this season. These are actual products that I use or have been using. The reason I started this series was because, if you are anything like me, you always want to know what the highest quality products and the advice of what is best. So here we go! The Herschel backpack brand is the brand I have used since Freshman year of college, and for Sophomore year I am not wavering! I love Herschel because they are sturdy and hold up to my, admittedly, reckless behavior. This backpack has never…

University of Illinois Alumni Luncheon 2018
Last week I had the privilege to mix and mingle with some of the amazing alumni from the University of Illinois. As a Sophomore, it was a honor for me to be nominated and invited to the 2018 University of Illinois Homecoming Comeback Lunch as a representative of the College of Media! I was so shocked to learn that I was even nominated and excited to have accepted the invitation to the luncheon. This was the opportunity of a lifetime, and I could not be more grateful. Me with former NASA astronaut and University of Illinois alumni Scott Altman. Almost all of the College of Media representatives are pictured in this photo with…

Movie Monday: Rope (1948)
Hitchcock films are always fun to watch, but they especially get the adrenaline pumping during the Halloween season! One of the best and (in my opinion) highly underrated Hitchcock movies is the cinema classic Rope. These photos are not mine. This is yet another Hitchcock film where James Stewart stars as the leading man. It is said that Stewart was Hitchcock’s ideal leading man like Grace Kelly was his ideal leading lady. People have also said that Stewart was the only actor that could ever hold his own against Hitchcock in a screaming match. I suppose the director respected him a little more because of that. Rope was based off…
