The Best of 2018
Today I would like to share a few of the things that Faintly Familiar readers were kind enough to tell me about. These are all of the different parts that made my readers’ 2018 special. So here we go! This is the best of 2018! Books The books pictured above are a few that Faintly Familiar readers also read in 2018. Not going to lie, Girl, Wash Your Face was everywhere this year and it definitely peaked my interest. However, I never found the time to sit down and actually read it. Maybe 2019 will be the year I read a bit more outside of college classes. Beauty Products For…

Sarah Sigmon: 2018 Fashion Highlights
I believe that a life well lived is one shared with others. This motto has shaped my 2018, and it has guided me in life. I also believe that fashion can make a moment that much more special, and the right outfit can do wonders for approaching different situations. I began Faintly Familiar with the purpose of sharing my passions and life with everyone. A large element of all of this is, of course, is fashion. So I would like to just take a moment and reflect on some on my favorite outfits from 2018! View this post on Instagram New post on the blog! Today I am discussing one…

How I Got Stranded in Dublin
I’m not sure how many people know this about the trip my brother Jacob and I took to London, but we actually got stranded in Dublin, Ireland! Our flight home was scheduled to land back in the United States late at night the day before Thanksgiving. However, our plans had to be changed… The morning started out early at Heathrow Airport in London. We woke up that morning about 5:30 am so we could take the Tube to Heathrow and get through security in time for our flight which was at 9:30 am. Our flight was a was a small one hour trip on British Airways to Dublin Airport. Really…

The London Trip: Day 3
You may be wondering what we could have possibly done or seen on our third day in London, it sure does feel like we did a lot just in the first two days we were there. But we had a plan, the third day was dedicated to the sights that were a little further outside of London. If you haven’t read the first two blog posts I made for the first two days we spent in London, be sure to check out day 1 and day 2. The London Trip: Day 3 Abbey Road It was a typical rainy London day (you know, gotta get the full English experience), but…

Princess Diana’s Dresses at Kensington Palace
One of the most exciting attractions for me while we were in London was seeing the Princess Diana dress exhibit at Kensington Palace! It made not only my day, week, month, and year but my WHOLE LIFE!!! I’m not really joking when I say this, I am a huge fan of Princess Diana because of her kindness. Seeing her dresses in person made the whole idea of her a lot more real than ever before. At the exhibit they also had quite a few sketches of the dress designs hanging on the walls, so all of those photos are in another blog post. For today, however, we will be focusing…

The London Trip: Day 1
After a week of recovery and trying to get back into the mode of college classes, I have finally found the time to sit down and tell you all about the awesome trip my brother Jacob and I took on fall break. Keep in mind that our fall break was only a week long, so our trip was relatively short. But man did we do a lot of cool thing while we were there! If you haven’t heard yet, or seen on my social media, my older brother Jacob and I took a small trip to London on our fall break! In total, it took us 6 days (we originally…

Movie Monday: It Should Happen to You (1954)
It Should Happen to You is yet another classic film that loves to play around with the idea of advertising/advertisements. In this film, Judy Holliday plays a character that comes up with the very original idea to advertise her own name on a billboard in the hopes of becoming famous. Well, the billboard project works! But I will leave what happens in the rest of the film out in case you haven’t ever seen it before. It is a great film though, and I highly recommend watching it! These photos are not mine. This Jack Lemmon’s first role in a Hollywood film! Unlike his role in Some Like It Hot,…

Movie Monday: The Thrill of It All (1963)
The classic film we are talking about on this #MovieMonday is The Thrill of It All! Doris Day always knew how make a film both lighthearted and memorable, and with James Garner by her side there was no way this movie wouldn’t end up a classic! Day was the on-screen darling of the 1960’s so it is no wonder she made a lot of hits throughout the decade. This is one of her most famous movies that didn’t have another one of her favorite co-stars in it, Rock Hudson. These photos are not mine. This is another one of those films that’s especially fun for people who love advertising. In…

The Wonderful Style of Diana Prince
If you know me you also know just how big of a fan I am of Wonder Woman. I was hooked from the moment I watched the first episode of the 1970’s Wonder Woman show. Now that the iconic superhero has her own film, my love for this character has grown even more! Throughout the many years of Wonder Woman’s existence, we have seen her costume change with the time era she was in. It is commonly debated as to which Wonder Woman suit may be better than another, but what you hear little about is how Wonder Woman’s alter ego Diana Prince has changed her style over the years,…

Hollywood Royalty
Hollywood is no stranger to turning some of its biggest stars into real life royalty. We all witnessed the fairytale wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. But Markle was not the first actresses turned princess to come out of Hollywood! Today I am taking a look back at the royal relationships that has involved some of Hollywood’s biggest stars. Rita Hayworth These photos are not mine. Arguably the trendsetter for this phenomenon, no one had ever seen a Hollywood actress date a foreign prince before Rita Hayworth did. Way back in 1948, Rita was traveling the world as a superstar after her many…
