Prada has a very interesting take on what spring 2020 fashion will look like. While skipping all of the pastels and florals, Prada decided to do things in a retro style. This spring collection reminds me very much of the 1930s and what you would have seen back in that era (which happens to be one of my favorite times for fashion). However, each design had a distinct modern edge to it.

These dresses were all very much like the straight down, a-line style we have been seeing a bit more of. This is just another example of the 1930s vibes I get from this entire runway. One Old Hollywood actress that instantly comes to mind when I see these Prada designs is Carole Lombard. She was very much a lady of her time and it would seem that she may have had at least a little influence over the trends of that time era.

Another note that we should all take away from this collection is the usage of hats. The hats Prada designed, and ultimately decided to style for the runway, are very much “flapper girl” style hats. This original style of the bucket hat is the perfect accessory for all of these looks, and it demonstrates that the bucket hat trend we saw all summer long will certainly continue into spring 2020.

Overall, I really liked this runway! A lot of the time when I am looking over different runways and collections I find myself really getting into the analysis side of things like what trends and hot items I see. However, with this Prada collection I was able to just lose all awareness of what I was supposed to be doing and just enjoy the retro inspiration. These were truly lovely designs and such a great take on a interesting time era for fashion!

Much Love,

Sarah
