Although the entire focus of Fashion Month has been on spring fashion, I feel like this Miu Miu runways has a lot of fall and winter vibes to it. As soon as I saw this collection I knew this would make its way onto a Runway Review! Miu Miu created a collection of interesting mixes, but most importantly influential elements.

Something I noticed Miu Miu did with these designs was transition double breasted coat dresses into a springtime look. Typically we see this kind of design make an appearance in fall/winter fashion, but Miu Miu decided to shift this style into something more appropriate for spring. Personally, I love this idea! You all already know I am all about buttoned up coats, and these spring looks are giving me major peacoat vibes!

One very influential design element that I noticed with this collection was the feather lined long coats. There is no doubt that long coats will be a major trend for spring 2020, but this feather lined version is something new. I love how luxurious it looks while also being completely effortless! It reminds me of something an Old Hollywood star would have worn, but it is somehow extremely modern all at the same time. Bravo to Miu Miu for pulling off this fabulous look!

Last but not least, I want to talk about one draw back that is keeping me from declaring this runway as one of the best. The entire collection looks good if you divide your attention to individual pieces, however, if you look at it all as one collection it gets kind of messy. Why? Because of the random embellishments that are splattered throughout each look. If you don’t know what I mean go look at the photos above. You will see a random ruffle placed on a skirt or dress, and the fabrics will not match one another.

Although this is an interesting design idea, I do not feel like it adds to this runway overall. It doesn’t even seem like something that will be on trend or innovative. So why did they include it? You are asking the wrong person. However, I do want to reassure you all that random ruffles will not be something we see become a trend in the spring of 2020.

Overall, I would say this collection was a decent showing for Miu Miu. I think there were elements where they chose to try some new details and that is always a good thing to do in fashion. Though, just because it is a good thing to do does not mean it always works. You can clearly see both the good and bad side of that in this one runway.

Much Love,

Sarah
