What I'm Wearing

A Vintage Puff Sleeve

The runways have been full of interesting shoulder designs, and it has inspired me to transform this spring 2020 trend into a fall 2019 look! Last week in the Look Book I talked about the 80s inspiration that is showing up in shows like the Versace’s spring collection. However, today I am talking about a more vintage look that involves echos of the 40s.

I love all things classic, especially classic films. So it probably comes as no surprise to you all when I say that the 40s inspiration for the shoulder designs we have been seeing more of is one of my fashion trends of the future. The main difference between this more vintage shoulder and the 80s inspired style is that one is more soft looking than another. You may already know which is which, but I am just going to put it on the record that the 80s shoulder is much more hardcore than one that is 40s inspired.

The top I am sporting today is a lovely strawberry red featuring that 40s inspired, vintage sleeve. I love the loose look of this sleeve! It reminds me so much of Old Hollywood dresses that my favorite actresses have worn. Something that really stands out to me with this particular top is that is is so versatile. I already mentioned that the bolder sleeves and shoulder designs are going to be a trend for spring 2020, but there is no reason not to start experimenting with it now!

This top is perfect for both fall 2019 fashion and later summer looks. Although the calendar is telling us it is officially autumn, not all days feel that way weather wise. So until it is full sweater time, might as well have fun with the medium length sleeves and try out the bold shoulder look! Luckily, I found the exact top I am wearing and it is linked below! I have some other cool tops similar to the one I am wearing that would also be perfect for fall, too!

Much Love,

Sarah
