Ever since I watched My Man Godfrey, Carole Lombard has been one of my favorite comedic Old Hollywood actresses. Not only is she funny, but Lombard is also able to play off the dramatic side of things while still keeping her cool. Today I am going to review another Lombard classic called Nothing Sacred that features a bit of her comedic style as well. What I like most about Nothing Sacred is the dynamic between Carole Lombard and Fredric March. It’s time to take a moment to laugh and celebrate a comedy this Movie Monday! If there is anyone who can master classic film comedy it is definitely Cary Grant and Ginger Rogers! Monkey Business is a funny and adorable film from what could be expressed as the typical 50’s style comedy. In Monkey Business Grant brings back the coke bottle glasses he wore in Bringing Up Baby and his comedic skills. This isn’t the same style of comedy he used in some other movies, though, like Arsenic and Old Lace. If you know me then you know how much I love the television show I Love Lucy. Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz are one of the best comedy duos of all time, in my opinion. Although this film is considered a drama, Born Yesterday can still be considered one of the best love stories in cinema history (and just in time for Valentine’s Day!). Judy Holiday and William Holden make quite this couple in this classic film! Today’s Movie Monday is dedicated to Born Yesterday! In the mid-1960’s, while a slew of Elvis Presley films were dominating theaters all around the world, the United States experienced something of a British invasion. Beatlemania had taken over seemingly everywhere, and this band was considered a fad of it’s time. The decision to make a semidocumentary, semicomedy was an urgent one!
