Sarah Sigmon: 2018 Fashion Highlights
I believe that a life well lived is one shared with others. This motto has shaped my 2018, and it has guided me in life. I also believe that fashion can make a moment that much more special, and the right outfit can do wonders for approaching different situations. I began Faintly Familiar with the purpose of sharing my passions and life with everyone. A large element of all of this is, of course, is fashion. So I would like to just take a moment and reflect on some on my favorite outfits from 2018! View this post on Instagram New post on the blog! Today I am discussing one…

Movie Monday: Bachelor Mother (1939)
Bachelor Mother was Ginger Rogers’ film debut after starring in nine movies with Fred Astaire. Both needed space from one another, and this was Rogers’ answer to the previous roles she had became known for. Of course nerves surrounded the burgeoning actress, however, this film proved that she could certainly hold her own without relying on Astaire as a counterpart. These photos are not mine. In addition to the clear success of Bachelor Mother, not many people know that this was not the first version of this film. Back in 1935, a German version was produced called Little Mother. Yet another version of the film was made in 1956, called Bundle…

What I’m Wearing for New Years Eve 2018
Sequins, sequins, and more sequins! It seems that New Years Eve is always about who can wear the most glitter. Well, this year I have decided to take a little bit of a more subtle approach to New Years Eve fashion. I am focusing my whole outfit around this chic and fun tweed jacket! If you look closely enough you can see there are indeed tiny sequins sewn into the fabric of this jacket. It adds that hopeful New Years feeling to every ensemble! In the photos above I paired this tweed jacket a couple of ways. The first one was with a cute black and white printed turtle neck,…

What I’m Wearing for Christmas Eve 2018
Oh the holiday season! Arguably one of my favorite times of the year! Why? Well, there is just something so magical in the air. Maybe it is the twinkling lights? Or the snow that sometimes covers the ground? Or maybe it is just because people seem to be a little more kind to one another this time of year? Whatever the reasoning is, one thing I do know for sure is that winter fashion has always been one of my favorites seasons to dress for! The addition of more layers makes the mixing and matching of closet staples with trendy accessories even more exciting than it normally is! I also…

How I Got Stranded in Dublin
I’m not sure how many people know this about the trip my brother Jacob and I took to London, but we actually got stranded in Dublin, Ireland! Our flight home was scheduled to land back in the United States late at night the day before Thanksgiving. However, our plans had to be changed… The morning started out early at Heathrow Airport in London. We woke up that morning about 5:30 am so we could take the Tube to Heathrow and get through security in time for our flight which was at 9:30 am. Our flight was a was a small one hour trip on British Airways to Dublin Airport. Really…

The London Trip: Day 3
You may be wondering what we could have possibly done or seen on our third day in London, it sure does feel like we did a lot just in the first two days we were there. But we had a plan, the third day was dedicated to the sights that were a little further outside of London. If you haven’t read the first two blog posts I made for the first two days we spent in London, be sure to check out day 1 and day 2. The London Trip: Day 3 Abbey Road It was a typical rainy London day (you know, gotta get the full English experience), but…

Movie Monday: White Christmas (1954)
Arguably one of the greatest holiday films of all time, White Christmas is still enjoyed by audiences everywhere. You don’t have to celebrate Christmas in order to enjoy the talented actors/actresses who brought to life the characters in this film. The dancing scenes and musical numbers are instantly recognizable, and those comedic moments between Bing Crosby and Danny Kaye are equally unforgettable! When White Christmas debuted in theaters in 1954, it was massively popular and became one of the highest grossing films of that year. All of the actors in the starring positions were greatly benefitted from the success of this movie. Crosby and Kaye were ranked high on the…

The Steve Madden Puffer Jacket
As a college student (who is thankfully on winter break until the new year – woohoo!) who walks a lot on a large campus, it is so important to find a warm jacket. It was essential for me to also find one that has a hood on it in case it gets extra freezing outside. One of my favorite places to shop is Kohl’s, and that is where I found this pretty warm jacket! Steve Madden has scored again with this piece! It is not only a beautiful shade of purple, but it is also the warmest jacket I have ever owned. I love that fact that it has a…

Movie Monday: Christmas in Connecticut (1945)
Continuing our celebration of the holiday season, this Movie Monday is about the 1940’s classic Christmas in Connecticut. This is one of the most famous films to watch during the holidays, and remains a favorite of Barbara Stanwyck fans. Before Christmas in Connecticut, Barbara Stanwyck was well known for here more serious roles. Having started in the exceptionally popular film Double Indemnity (1944) only one year prior this Christmas classic had Stanwyck at the top of her game. Although she did not receive an Oscar for her work in Double Indemnity, Stanwyck did have the honor of being nominated. The ensembles throughout Christmas in Connecticut remain one of the many…

The Electric Blue Cowl Neck Sweater
The winter season is creeping upon us as we all prepare for the holidays. Along with the changing season is much colder weather, but I am not afraid of being cold this year! This cowl neck sweater will be keeping me warm without having to wear a scarf. Normally I don’t love having tight or bulky things up around my neck, but with this cowl neck styled sweater I don’t have to worry about tying a tight scarf around my neck! At the same time, I also don’t have to worry about feeling constrained by the material. A cowl sweater is such a wintertime essential, in my opinion, and can…
