How to Add a Little Spring Into Your Winter Wardrobe
I think we can all agree that January can feel a little dreary every once in a while. Between cabin fever and all of the cold weather (depending on your location – if you live near the beach I envy you), it can feel like this whole winter thing may never end. Well, I am here to say there is a better way to create a little reprieve! If you have been reading Faintly Familiar for a while now, you already know that neon has been the “it” color trend since the fall of 2018. I wrote about this trend back in the fall, you can read that post here.…

I Love Lucy & Her Style
I love the I Love Lucy television show! The many funny elements in this show was highly influential on me and crafted a large portion of my humor. When attempting to be funny (that’s right, I said attempting because who really knows if I am ever truly funny. But hey, a girl can try!), so many times my jokes can be very over-the-top like what would be on the I Love Lucy Show. The comedy wasn’t the only influential part of Lucile Ball’s career, however. When thinking of the typical 1950’s ladies fashion we often think of Lucy’s style. Today I want to talk a closer look at some of…

A Classic Black Turtleneck
Is there anything more chic than a black turtle neck? There is a reason this seemingly simple piece of clothing remains within the ever-changing fashion industry as one that everyone finds attractive. Thanks to the incredible Audrey Hepburn we now consider a black turtleneck a closet essential! Over the years, the color black has proven itself to be the only color in fashion that will never truly go out of style. Yes, you may have the color of the year be a peach or emerald, but if you are wearing an all black ensemble you are immediately seen as someone who is “in the know” so to speak. That is…

My Favorite Sherpa Pullover
Sherpa has become one of the trendiest materials of this winter! Sherpa can be found in numerous formats, but personal favorite is the pullover. I have a couple of different sherpa pullovers (because they are so warm and cozy), but the pullover I am going to talk about in this blog post is my personal favorite. Why is this one so special? Well, it is such a pretty mix of colors let’s just start out with that. Not to mention it has pockets (which is an all too rare quality in women’s clothing), this pullover is such a wintertime classic! If you don’t already own something that is sherpa related,…

Why Duck Boots are a Winter Wardrobe Essential
I am not over exaggerating when I say this, if you don’t have a pair of duck boots already you have got to go get a pair today! They are so perfect for casual outfits in the wintertime, and no matter what the weather is they will get you through it! These boots even made it on my “A Few of My Favorite Things” list for winter 2018/19! Duck boots have gotten me through the sludge of fading away snow and puddles of rain. There is no other pair of shoes that are more reliable this time of year. Sometimes I see ladies where rain boots in the snow and…

Snow Day Style
If you have been watching the news as of late you will have heard about how the Midwest (where I happen to live and go to college) just received one of the largest snowstorms in years. Of course, with my luck it happened the weekend before the new semester begins and I must trudge across campus in it. So this got me thinking of all the different ways I could keep warm and still stay cute in the follow week. Today on Faintly Familiar I wanted to share a few of my ideas with you all! A Classic Winter Look Although I don’t advise going into the cold without a…

Faux Fur Coats for the Luxury Look
This winter fashion has seen an influx of more luxurious looks. Between animal prints and faux fur, so much of street style these days has influences of old Hollywood. Back in the Silver Screen days, ladies would clamor just to say that they had a mink coat. Having a mink coat was a sign of your social and economic status in the United States. However, we know so much more about what goes into creating coats or other garments with real fur. Thankfully fashion has begun to embrace faux fur and they are no longer promoting using real fur on the runways. Enter in the faux fur coat trend. This…

New Year, Same Sarah
It would be really easy for me to open up my first “Look Book” style blog post of the year with talking about how I am going to change this year or to talk about my New Years resolutions. However, that is not the case with today’s post because technically I don’t have any resolutions for the new year. If anything, it is more like a life resolution! You see, if 2018 taught me anything it was that being able to adapt to change and finding your footing within all strange and different situations is so important! That is why I have resolved to be open to all opportunities not…

Sarah Sigmon: 2018 Fashion Highlights
I believe that a life well lived is one shared with others. This motto has shaped my 2018, and it has guided me in life. I also believe that fashion can make a moment that much more special, and the right outfit can do wonders for approaching different situations. I began Faintly Familiar with the purpose of sharing my passions and life with everyone. A large element of all of this is, of course, is fashion. So I would like to just take a moment and reflect on some on my favorite outfits from 2018! View this post on Instagram New post on the blog! Today I am discussing one…

What I’m Wearing for New Years Eve 2018
Sequins, sequins, and more sequins! It seems that New Years Eve is always about who can wear the most glitter. Well, this year I have decided to take a little bit of a more subtle approach to New Years Eve fashion. I am focusing my whole outfit around this chic and fun tweed jacket! If you look closely enough you can see there are indeed tiny sequins sewn into the fabric of this jacket. It adds that hopeful New Years feeling to every ensemble! In the photos above I paired this tweed jacket a couple of ways. The first one was with a cute black and white printed turtle neck,…
