• Elegant Scallops

Tomorrow marks the beginning of the best time in the entire year — fall! This is my absolute favorite season for many reasons, but one of this reasons is certainly the fashion. The colors that go along with autumn are some of the most lovely shades of each variety and they mix well together, too! I cannot think of a better dress to kick off this new season than this burgundy, scalloped dress! Burgundy is such a flattering color on everyone and it always makes for an elegant look. This particular dress is designed to be a scalloped t-shirt dress which makes it a pretty great choice for the warmer…

  • Halpern Spring 2020

Wow, wow, wow! This Halpern spring 2020 runway may be the best one I have seen so far! This doesn’t feel like any one seasonal collection, but it feels like a Met Gala red carpet all rolled up into a runway! There is so much glamour that can be found in this Halpern collection which I love. This level of sophistication is not typical found within a spring collection that is for sure. When the average person thinks of spring they may think of bunnies, sunshine, and grass. In other words, pastels, muted colors, and anything matte. Halpern took all of the expectations I had, threw them in the trash,…

  • Marc Jacobs Spring 2020

I’m going to be honest, I feel pretty lukewarm about this Marc Jacobs spring 2020 collection. It was not the worst runway, and it was not the best runway. However, there are a few things we can gleam in particular from this spring collection and take with us for when we go shopping. First of all, I want to point out that the colors of all kind have reigned supreme so far during both New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week. From what I can tell, pastels are still a dominant feature for spring runways, but there is a surge of brighter more in your face colors taking hold…

  • Movie Monday: Nothing Sacred (1937)

Ever since I watched My Man Godfrey, Carole Lombard has been one of my favorite comedic Old Hollywood actresses. Not only is she funny, but Lombard is also able to play off the dramatic side of things while still keeping her cool. Today I am going to review another Lombard classic called Nothing Sacred that features a bit of her comedic style as well. What I like most about Nothing Sacred is the dynamic between Carole Lombard and Fredric March. It isn’t quite like the chemistry Lombard had with William Powell on screen, however, that is the reason I think it is so refreshing. In my opinion, it seems that…

  • A Little Bit of Lace

Today’s featured item on the Faintly Familiar “Look Book” is an item sharing a lace detail that is right on trend with all of the lace trimmings of the season! Even on the runways for spring 2020 there are so many different designs that include some kind of lace detailing. Personally, I have always been a fan of any kind of collar, but especially the Peter Pan collar! This top that I found from Shein combines a fun and classic trend with the collar detail that I love. This particular top will be great for the autumn season, too! The collar will be perfect as a base layer underneath a…

  • Coach 1941 Spring 2020

There are always a few solid runways that I always look forward to knowing they will not disappoint. Coach is one of those runways. It seems like every seasons they consistently are able to both surprise and reassure me in the essence of their brand. For the spring 2020 Coach collection there was a ton of leather on display! That is such a stark contrast to what we normally see and what all of the other collections are showing for this season. Typically, spring is the time of the year for butterflies, flowing dresses, and a boat load of pastels. All of these elements are, of course, nice for spring,…

  • Johnathan Simkhai Spring 2020

Of all of the runways that have show this Fashion Month so far, the most intriguing of them all for me is the Johnathan Simkhai runway. This wasn’t a collection that will define a fashion era, but, I believe, it will hold some weight when it comes to the trends we will see in 2020. The overalls vibe I get from this spring 2020 collection is definitely late 1800s early 1900s. If you look back in fashion history, you can see how these two different timelines kind of go along with one another and, ultimately, gave way to each other. Let me separate these two inspirational eras a little bit.…

  • Carolina Herrera Spring 2020

It is officially Fashion Month! Which means there will be plenty of brand new and exciting Runway Reviews coming your way! Today I want to review one of the first collections to really catch my eye, and one that I do not believe has received the kind of attention it deserves. The Carolina Herrera collection for spring 2020 plays on all of the right notes of spring, but without all of the clichés. If you notice, the designs featured on this particular runway contain all of the elements of any good springtime look that you would expect like pastels and florals. However, thanks to the bold silhouettes and structures in…

  • Movie Monday: The Maltese Falcon (1941)

There are a few films that everyone seems to know of even if that is based off of cultural references. Humphrey Bogart was one lucky actor to be apart of a few of the movies that have made it into the cultural lexicon. Today’s Movie Monday is focused on reviewing one of those famous films! The featured film here is the 1941 version of The Maltese Falcon. Although The Maltese Falcon was done what feels like a million times, Humphrey Bogart is arguably the main difference in what this particular story so popular among audiences. As usual, Bogart has a sultry, hard exterior that he portrays to capture just the…

  • A 60s Inspired Dress with a Modern Twist

There are so many different decades and time eras that inspire me when it comes to fashion, and one of those decades is the 60s! Although there are a variety of sources I take inspiration from, the 60s is one I never get tired of. However, this dress in particular is one that has some unique twists that make it distinctly a modern piece. A few of the designs that makes this dress a modern, 60s classic are the halter top, the silhouette of the dress, and the bold yet tasteful floral print. The print featured on this dress is not your grandmother’s couch design (although we do all love…
