• The Color of 2019

Last November, Pantone announced there annual color of the year and 2019’s color is called “Living Coral”! This shade of coral had, from what I can tell, undertones of peach and red. Although this color may not be my favorite (let’s be honest, I would prefer a pink of some kind :)), I can definitely see where “Living Coral” can be used in fashion. Recently, I found this sweater at Old Navy and it reminded me of the “Living Coral” color! Besides adding that pop of color that winter wardrobes often times need, this bright shade can also provide a lot of versatility to how you layer sweaters. This Old…

  • How Polka Dots & Yellow are the Micro-Trends of Spring 2019

Something that I have been noticing a lot of recently is the random emergence of polka dots. They can be found in so many different places and they have become something of a kind of micro-trend. A lot of fashionable ladies have embraced the polka dots for spring 2019 trend, and I have now too! Polka dots have always been one of my favorite prints and let’s be honest, they never truly go out of style. But there are times when we see more of this pattern than other moments in fashion. Right now it is really ganging steam and it could be a trend that very well lasts into…

  • The Lug Bag

The summer travel season will be here before we know it, and spring break vacations have already began in many places. Thinking about traveling anywhere, even if it is just a day trip, always makes me wonder what kind of bag I should bring along with me. It constantly feels like while on a trip/vacation that there is way more that you need or want to carry in a bag. The more I need to carry, the more pockets I need on my bag. Well, in pursuit of the perfect bag for trips and a vacation (and just in time for all of the fun to begin) I have found…

  • What I’m Wearing for St. Patrick’s Day 2019

Whether you are superstitious like me or not, the truth is no one wants to be pinched simply for not wearing green on any particular day. But that doesn’t mean you have to completely deck yourself out in shamrocks either! This year, I am taking a bit of a different approach to St. Patrick’s Day. Instead of wearing the normal bright green shamrock t-shirt or a “Kiss me I’m Irish” sweater, try going for a more versatile (and dare I say timeless) look. For instance, the top I am wearing above is not only an easy solution for St. Patrick’s Day, but it is also something that can be worn…

  • Valentino Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear Collection

This collection by Valentino has reminded me of street art and graffiti from the first moment I saw it! I absolutely love the bold, artistic take with this runway. This is elevated street style, in my opinion! The red and pink colors that Valentino used in this collection are very reminiscent of what we see during Valentine’s Day celebrations which is very fitting for their name. While the deep green and white shades are more fit for the fall season it was designed to be worn in. This color palette works surprisingly well together, and makes for a really cool and somewhat edgy runway. Accessories acted as the glue that…

  • Giambattista Valli Fall 2019

The Giambattista Valli fall 2019 collection felt more like a collection for springtime. Pastels have traditionally been something we see in the spring not fall, however, I kind of liked seeing it appear in a different season. One of my favorite colors is pink so that was an extra bonus from this runway. Another element I loved from this collection was the involvement of of florals! There is something so dreamy about the gowns that have these floral details on them, and I think they are such a lovely mix into an otherwise leaf dominated autumn season. Something that really surprised me about the Giambattista Valli runway was the fun,…

  • Chanel Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear|Farewell to Karl Lagerfeld

With the passing of the legendary designer Karl Lagerfeld, Chanel faces a whole new frontier. Lagerfeld gave us many designs to enjoy throughout his career, however, I can’t help but feel like this runway in particular will serve as a kind of endless winter inspiration for some time to come. The runway sets have always been spectacular, and Lagerfeld never disappointed those who were in attendance. But this runway perfectly sums up modern ski lodge attire. We are used to thinking of ski lodge ensembles in a retro light, but this collection really summed up a new approach. I really like how these dresses and all of the outfits were…

  • Christian Dior Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear Collection

With today’s Runway Review we see a return to 90’s street style! The consistent bucket hats are very reminiscent of 90’s fashion, however, I would say these are much more tame in terms of prints being used. I like how Dior used some of their most classic silhouettes for dresses and gowns for this runway. Typically we see fashion houses lazy attempts to be retro when it comes off a little cheap. However, these Dior throwbacks are simply stunning with all of their old time charm, but with just the right amount of modernity. The different prints used for this runway are particularly what remind me of the 90’s besides…

  • Etro Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear Collection

A new take on a classic preppy style is the feeling I get from the brand new Etro fall 2019 collection. This runway particularly stood out to me because of how different it was in tone. There is something distinctly academic looking to this collection. I simply love the use of velvet and different textures used in this runway. From bags and belts to the tights that the models wore, the accessories paired with all of these looks gave so much more dimension to the entire collection. There is also a very loose feeling to these fall looks. The colors scream changing leaves, but the fit of these designs are…

  • Dolce & Gabbana Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear Collection

With over one hundred ensembles shown in this Dolce & Gabbana runway, this collection was both vast and, at times, a bit eccentric. There was no clear influence upon this collection, from what I can tell. The only significant thread connecting each of these pieces is a sense of showmanship. Volume, volume, and more volume is the take away from Dolce & Gabbana. Don’t be surprised if in fall 2019 red carpets are dominated by voluminous dress. This rise of bold silhouettes reminds me of the bygone 1800’s era. All of these large details tend to say “notice me”. This is a striking departure from what we have seen on…
